Korea asks Americans to bare their Seoul
Seoul - The Seoul Metropolitan Government has tapped the blogosphere as part of a social media campaign to woo more American visitors to its capital city.
To roll out the digital component, the authority has appointed wwwins Consulting Hong Kong, part of Isobar, to develop the strategy and concept that include a website, advertising and management of travel experiences.
Brandon Cheung, strategic planning director for wwwins Hong Kong, said they saw the opportunity to tap into a massive user base of hyper-attentive individuals in the blogging and micro-blogging space.
"Our goal is to make Seoul feel closer to home for the US audience, and there's no better way to do that than to bring your entire social media community with you," he said.
The campaign titled " Would you sell your Seoul" kicked off this week.
It is based out of US that aims to raise awareness of Seoul among American business and recreational travellers through the use of local bloggers and Twitterers.
Bloggers will be voted by online users and they will get the chance to travel to Seoul on an all expense paid trip although will have to provide blog journals of their daily activities during the trip.
The campaign will run to the end of January 2010.
