Shanghai - In an aggressive move to ramp up its presence in China, Iris Worldwide has promoted David King (pictured), MD for Rapp China to regional CEO for China, effective in early December.

Based in Shanghai, King will be tasked to oversee the agency's client base in the region particularly the Sony Ericsson business across Greater China.

Board director Chris Martell will also relocate from Singapore to Beijing to lead Sony Ericsson's business across China.

King will report directly to global CEO Ian Millner.

Millner said the opportunity in China is huge and as they focus on driving their ambitious expansion plans in the region and other emerging markets, they look to attract the best in talent.

"Bringing on board someone of David's calibre, who has a proven track record and vast experience of the region, is fundamental to helping us grow the iris offering in what is fast becoming one of the most important markets for both us and our clients' business," he added.

King has more than 20 years of marketing experience.

He joined RAPP's Shanghai office as managing director in January 2007, following the sale of Tarantula China, which he co-founded, to Publicis Groupe Network.

Iris services a number of global clients in Asia Pacific from Sony Ericsson, adidas to Sony.

The agency has identified China, India and Indonesia as key markets for growth.
