Big winners HardwareZone and CNET characteristically led by a huge volume of votes in the IT news site category leaving the next candidates on the list - Channel NewsAsia and Yahoo - far behind. On the overall, HardwareZone and CNET hauled in 116 and 110 votes respectively while Channel NewsAsia and Yahoo managed to pull in eight and six votes respectively. With that said, Yahoo at 4th place stacked up well against the other candidates, falling just two votes behind 3rd placed Channel NewsAsia and climbing one rank ahead of 5th placed SPH Asiaone despite garnering five votes less on the overall. More respondents ranked Yahoo 1st and SPH Asiaone 2nd and 3rd. Yahoo's top of the mind association as a business and IT news site speaks of its versatility outside of merely being a search site which translates into limitless potential for generating advertising dollars.
