- Was awarded at the annual CASBAA Convention 2009
Malaysia - Astro was awarded the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) annual Chairman's award in Hong Kong yesterday.
The award was presented to Astro at the CASBAA Convention 2009 which ends tonight.
CASBAA said the accolade was given in recognition of Astro DTH platform's "outstanding contribution to the Asia Pacific multi-channel pay-TV industry over the past 12 months".
"However, this year's award is about more than performance during the past 12 months. Astro has taken a leadership role for our industry over many years," Marcel Fenez, chairman of CASBAA, said.
While accepting the award, Astro CEO Rohana Rozhan said she was "delighted" with the recognition.
"In view of the challenging economic environment, Astro has been conscientious in providing value to its customers by reinvesting in our broadcast and customer service infrastructure, as well as increasing our content spend in local content and the localisation of foreign content," Rozhan said.
