Superbrands crowns big winners

Singapore - Superbrands held its exclusive annual brand awards presentation in Singapore last night, presenting certificates to the most favoured consumer brands for 2009 such as StarHub and Colgate.
A total of 39 brands received the Superbrands certificates; including the likes of Coffee Club, Marina Square, NETS, NTUC Fairprice, Soo Kee Jewellery and StarHub.
The results were gleaned from an independent Superbrands survey conducted by The Nielsen Company in March this year.
"The presentation ceremony celebrates and gives recognition to the achievements and outstanding quality of some of Singapore's strongest and most valued local and international brands," Mark Pointer, CEO of Superbrands Singapore said.
"As Singapore and the rest of Asia emerge from a very tough period for brands, we believe that brands have an opportunity to leverage their Superbrands Status with consumers and reassure consumers that they are making the right brand choice," Pointer added.
"In this time of economic uncertainties, it is even more crucial to have strong brands to retain customer loyalty and sustain business growth. Brands with the greatest equity are more likely to tide over the tough times as customers are willing to pay higher prices for products which they have established a closer relationship with," Paul Richmond, managing director, Consumer Group, The Nielsen Company Singapore & Malaysia said.
