Singapore - Hewlett Packard said goodbye to several staff in its Imaging and Printing Group arm in Singapore as part of efforts to improve its supply chain.

HP said the decision was made at a global level, and went toward transforming the IPG operations unit, a plan that was announced in August. The layoffs were part of efforts to "re-align the organisation in an effort to optimise and improve its supply chain", a company spokesperson told local media.

Among those laid off was at least one director and several senior engineers.

The restructuring is the second HP's Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) has endured this year. The first was carried out in May this year for the same reason. The company declined to provide the actual number of staff laid off, but said it would try to redeploy affected staff. HP will pay retrenched staff one month's salary for every year of service, to a maximum of 12 months' salary.
