Global – CNN has unveiled a complete overhaul of its online portal, integrating some of the more social aspects of the internet into its new look.

CNN International's new look, launched today (26 October), comes with a much bigger focus on video and personalisation, with users now able to customise their CNN.com experience by adding news, sports, weather and stock prices to the home page.

As part of the change, CNN.com will integrate its iReport program into all aspects of the website, including social media elements like commenting and following other iReport users. CNN iReport will feature direct quotes from iReporters who are in the middle of unfolding stories across the world.

In a move to boost its entertainment coverage, CNN.com has announced partnership with US publications like People and EW magazines.

Hoping to recreate the success of its Facebook partnership during this year’s presidential inauguration and Michael Jackson’s funeral, on 10 November CNN.com will host a 90-minute webcast with Oprah Winfrey's Oprah.com to discuss her latest book club recommendation.

Facebook users will be able to log in and submit questions, share opinions and listen to live discussions.

KC Estenson, senior vice president and general manager of CNN.com, said the developments was about harnessing the full power of the brand.

“This is a total re-imagining of CNN.com, and we are extremely excited about unveiling it to the world,” Estenson said.

“CNN.com has always been a destination for breaking news but the breadth and depth of the new site will give users a fresh new way to experience CNN’s content.”
