DDB Mudra appoints Follett as planning head
India - DDB has appointed Michael Follett as senior VP, strategy & planning for its India operations, to lead planning across DDB Mudra, RAPP, Tribal DDB and Mudra Health and Lifestyle.
Prior to this, Follett was planning head, Tribal DDB New York.
On his move to India, Follett tells afaqs!, "India, at the moment, is the country of the future and you could not think of a better place for business. Besides the opportunities in the country, I was also looking forward to specifically working with DDB Mudra here. It has a strong and diverse set of talents to draw from, great clients and massive opportunities."
He says that while it is important for the group to maintain the four different companies, Follett will look to ensure that the companies work coherently.
"Advertising is a team sport. I am a big fan of cricket and I have to make sure that everyone plays in their right positions and play to their strengths," he says.
Follett will report to Sandeep Vij, country head, DDB Mudra Group.
Vij says in a press statement, "Michael (Follett) brings with him a unique skill set and intrinsic understanding of brands, markets and consumers. I am certain that our brands here will benefit from the insights and passion he brings to this position."
After starting out as a teacher, Follett began his planning career in advertising at DDB London, where he worked for seven years before moving to Tribal DDB, New York. He has worked on various international brands such as Philips, Epson, Hasbro, Novartis and Oxfam.
