- Local brands welcomed
Malaysia – After a very public battle to secure the sole Malaysian rights to the Ford Supermodel of the World contest, Amber Chia is on the hunt for sponsors for the show.
Currently, there are no sponsors confirmed for the modelling reality show which could present a unique platform for brands in Malaysia to leverage on.
Former Mediaedge:cia Malaysia general manager, James Ho said sponsors could come from a variety of different companies.
He said cosmetic companies, digital camera brands and jewellery brands such as Habib Jewels could all become accessories modelled during the show.
“Even hotels, mobile phone companies as well as airlines. [It] depends how she [Chia] wants to market the programme," Ho said.
Recently, an online reality TV show on bloggers called Project Alpha bagged Adidas as its main sponsor. Other sponsors included the Sunway Group (as official location sponsors), Hitz FM (as official media partner), Rimmel (as official make-up sponsor), and Euphoria by Ministry of Sound (as official venue sponsor).
Speaking to A+M, Chia said she would also welcome any local brand sponsorships as well.
"The sponsors will also play a role in terms of some activities [in the episodes] depending on the brand but that is yet to be finalised," she said.
The show is expected to be ten episodes long.
The finals of Ford Supermodel of the World competition will be held in January next year and shooting for all the episodes should wrap by November.
