M1 buys internet player Qala
- M1 Net acquires Qala
- Aims to enhance product offering
- Comes close after prepaid broadband launch
Singapore - In a bid to strengthen its broadband offerings M1 Net, a subsidiary of telco MobileOne, has acquired internet service provider Qala Singapore.
Qala offers a full suite of data and communications products and services to corporate, enterprise and public sector customers in Singapore. It also holds the rights to provide both indoor and outdoor seamless wireless broadband access under thw IDA's Wireless@SG programme.
"This acquisition will allow M1 to enter the corporate fixed broadband business quickly by leveraging on the presence and experience of Qala in this market. We will use this ready platform to derive synergies and further grow the business as a full service operator," Karen Kooi, chief executive officer of M1, said in a statement.
"There will also be opportunities for us to enhance our range of products and services in order to better meet the diverse needs of our customers in this segment."
M1 recently launched Singapore's first prepaid mobile broadband service, offering unlimited data usage for consumers.
