Shanghai - VivaKi, part of Publicis Groupe's media and digital division, has identified China as an important growth market for digital and to reinforce its commitment appointed Yifei Li (pictured) as chairman for Greater China based in Shanghai.

In her role, Li will work with the regional and local partner agencies, Digitas, Starcom MediaVest Group and ZenithOptimedia to boost the group's presence in Greater China region.

She will report to David Kenny, managing partner for VivaKi.

According to ZenithOptimedia's ad spend forecast, China is projected to be the world's 4th largest ad marketing this year with its GDP growth outlook expected to increase to 10% in 2010.

Kenny said in a statement that Li will help their clients and media owners expand and grow businesses in this digital era.

"She combines powerful business acumen and marketplace knowledge," he added.

In this rapidly digitizing market of China, Li said she wants to connect brands to people in meaningful ways.

Prior to VivaKi, Li was MD for GLG Partners China, a global asset management company. Before that, she was executive VP for MTV Networks Asia and chief representative of Viacom China.

Early this month, Publicis has announced it will pay US$530 million to acquire Microsoft's digital advertising agency Razorfish as reported in Marketing.

Razorfish will continue to operate under its brand name but will be housed under VivaKi, the Publicis entity created in June 2008 to leverage the combined scale of Digitas, Starcom MediaVest Group, Denuo and ZenithOptimedia agencies. _________________________________________________________________________________________
