CNET.com's powerful mix of editorial expertise and user-generated content has probably granted it the edge it needed to go the distance over the last 14 years, giving it muscle to establish the firm-hold that it has over its audience today as one of the top opinion leaders within the highly specialised world of techno gizmos. One needs to look no further than CNET's consistent performance at The Webby Awards - an award established in 1996 honouring excellence on the internet - to witness the affirmation that receives from its web audience.

CNET.com was ranked 7th as a search site and 2nd as an IT news site in the surveys Marketing conducted.

Findings revealed that majority of respondents from companies of local origin tended to rank CNET.com 2nd as a search site while companies of foreign origin tended to rank it 1st. In support of the above finding, respondents with local responsibilities tended to rank CNET.com 2nd, while more respondents with regional responsibilities tended to rank the website 1st.

Clients seemed to think differently from their agencies. More client-side respondents voted for CNET.com as a search site and majority of those who voted ranked it 1st. Although fewer agency-side clients cast their votes for CNET.com, a majority of agency-side respondents who did vote for it still ranked a solid 2nd place. By industry, CNET.com seemed to be favoured most by those from the IT telecommunications, motor vehicle and consumer product segments.
