Regional - In a branded content move Hewlett-Packard has launched HP Space, a pan-Asian reality television show to be shown on Star which encourages creativity in the region.
The series will promote creative innovation in Asia through the use of technology. A total of 36 contestants will be auditioned ‘live' in China, India and South East Asia, finalists of which will fly to Singapore and work with creative professionals in the advertising, design, film, music and art industry.
Auditions can be made online at hpspace.com.
"Embracing the edgy and living up to our ‘computer is personal again' philosophy, we have been trying to create meaningful experiences for our users," Ajay Mohan, vice president marketing, personal systems group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan, said in a statement.
"HP Space is a first of its kind initiative, providing a platform for talented people across the region to unleash their creative energy. With Star's production capability, as well as our extensive reach online and on air across Asia, we have a real opportunity to raise the level of creative discourse and truly grow the creative ‘space' in Asia," Jonathan Ellis, Star's senior vice president, ad sales, said.
The entrants will be judged on the basis of their performance and votes from the viewers, and rewarded with prizes and opportunities to fuel their creative passion. These include US$50,000 for the overall winner, and also a fully paid job on the production of the remake of anime classic Bubblegum Crisis in Australia.
