Hong Kong - Ink Publishing has won the Gulf Air inflight magazine contract from incumbent Emphasis Media to launch two new inflight magazines, Gulf Life and On Air.

The monthly publications are onboard this month with content produced in both English and Arabic. Ex-editor for Time Out travel publications, Andrew Humphreys has been named as editor.

"We have chosen Ink Publishing because of their broad range of international experience in the publishing business as well as their proven track record of creating outstanding titles, especially for the travel and tourism sectors," Lee Shave, vice-president of marketing and sales for Gulf Air said.

"As every issue of each magazine will be read by over 600,000 savvy frequent travellers, Gulf Life and On Air will be the ideal media for companies who are interested in getting their message across to Gulf Air's exclusive target audience while they are travelling and in a receptive mindset. These are individuals interested in purchasing consumer and luxury products, seeking vacation homes abroad and finding new destinations to explore," Anthony Jamil Azoury, associate publisher of Gulf Life and On Air said.

The news follows Ink's recent contract win to publish Oasis Hong Kong Airlines' inflight magazine, Oasis. While Emphasis Media declined to comment on the Gulf Air news, Ink Publishing has confirmed with Marketing that they are currently pitching for the Cathay Pacific inflight magazine contract.

Emphasis Media also declined to comment on this news.
