HP readies for design festival

• HP launches local design festival
• In conjunction with National Day
• Runs from 7-13 August

Singapore - Hewlett Packard has launched a week-long "City of Dreams" festival - a digital art, animation and photography showcase to celebrate award-winning and local creative works.

It is being held in conjunction with Singapore's 44^th National Day Held and is also in partnership with ION Orchard. It runs from 7-13 August on Basement 4 at ION Orchard and is supported by ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore, ITE College Central and Objectifs (Centre for Photography and Filmmaking).

The "City of Dreams" showcase is open to the public from 11am to 9pm daily and will feature a selection of award-winning animation shorts from SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Electronic Theatre Showcase presented by ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore Chapter, multimedia and animation works from ITE School of Design & Media and HP Lightropolis contest creations.

"The festival will see Singapore showcased as a ‘City of Dreams' as we want to encourage the local creative community in their pursuit of creative ideas and passion," Serena Yong, general manager, personal systems group, HP Singapore, said.

Creative digital dialogue sessions will also be available for aspiring professionals to learn from guest speakers from the digital and animation industry.
