Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Government has appointed Publicis Modem to revamp its web portal and introduce a personalised service aimed to bridge the gap between citizens and the government.

The objective of the revamp is to create a one-stop portal to meet local citizens' needs by offering quicker and easier access to a comprehensive range of the latest government information and services.

Yvette Yanne, business director for Publicis Modem Hong Kong, said government websites are usually functional but not very interactive and user-friendly.

The challenge for the agency is to create a portal that suits a wide spectrum of target groups and their online behaviour.

Yanne said Publicis Modem will introduce elements that are commonly found in consumer websites to make it more visually compelling and provide a high level of user-ability for Hong Kong people.

While the new look will unveil in Q1 next year, the personalised services that will include a sign in, bookmarks, ability to change colour schemes and links to other government services such as the booking of a tennis court will be available in Q3 2010.
