HP & Cartoon Network call budding animators
- Online contest for budding animators
- Created by HP and Cartoon Network
- Winning entry gets broadcast
Regional - Hewlett-Packard and the Cartoon Network have teamed up to open the ‘Toon Creator Awards', an online animation contest and a platform for young talent in Asia Pacific to showcase their creativity.
Budding animators aged between six and 14 can enter and are encouraged to develop their own short animated clips, featuring characters from the series Ben 10: Alien Force and Chowder.
From 13 July to 30 September, participants can visit the tooncreatorawards.com/ website and create their own 25-second ending to both of the cartoons. The competition is open to all schools and individuals in Australia, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
The entries will be up for voting on the website and the winners from each category will be determined by a combination of online votes and a professional judging panel from HP and Cartoon Network.
"The power of a creative idea is undoubtedly demonstrated in the greatest innovations of our times. HP recognises the need to nurture this culture of creativity and innovation at a very young age," Ajay Mohan, HP's vice president marketing, personal systems group Asia Pacific and Japan, said.
"Toon Creator Awards and our collaboration with Cartoon Network is a small step in this direction."
Each individual country winners are eligible to receive an HP TouchSmart PC and automatically qualify for the regional competition to win an HP connected home grand prize. The ultimate regional winner will see their project broadcast on Cartoon Network in November.
