Sony Ericsson recently held an island-wide ‘Fully Loaded' treasure hunt event aimed at promoting the capabilities of its 3G mobile phones, with one contestant bagging the grand prize of a Volkswagen New Beetle.

"Through the treasure hunt, customers were able to experience first-hand the interactive features of our 3G-enabled mobile phones -- such as video telephony -- while having fun at the same time," said Jack Tan, Branch Manager for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Singapore.

10 contestants, picked from people who purchased selected Sony Ericsson mobile phones and accessories between August 6 and October 1, participated in the islandwide event which required them to first collect nine items in a scavenger hunt. After that, the treasure hunt proper saw each contestant, chauffeured in a Beetle, seeking out eight locations via clues such as riddles sent via SMS or MMS to their 3G Sony Ericsson mobiles. To get their next clue, contestants had to make video calls at their location to the race marshal using their mobiles. The final challenge was the search for the key to the grand prize at Millenia Tower.

After 2 hours 40 minutes, Daniel Fang emerged victorious as the first to complete the race. Runners-up each received a $100 Sony Ericsson voucher and premiums.
