STB revamps Visit Singapore website

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has just soft-launched its newly-revamped Singapore Tourism portal -- coinciding with the time when people make their year-end travel preparations -- to achieve strong brand recall amongst travellers and position the country as a premier travel destination.

"People are increasingly turning to the Internet to make travel plans, so it's important that we have a website that is easy to navigate and also showcases our ‘Uniquely Singapore' brand," said Bill Ang, STB's Director for Brand Management in a statement. "With a vibrant new look and several unique interactive features, the Visit Singapore website is an ideal first stop for them to find out all they need to know to make their visit here a ‘Uniquely Singapore' experience."

Led by Green Dot Internet Services and Convertium, improvements to the site include the option to customise sections to travellers' specific interests and purpose of visit -- before entering, users are asked what they are interested in, and an events calendar customised to their purpose of visit and preferences is instantly created on the homepage for them. A print cart compilation feature also allows travellers to choose only the events or attractions they're interested in, which will then be compiled automatically for easy printing.

By April 2006, the site will provide more travel planning tools such as an itinerary planner and weather, currency and transportation information, amongst others.
