Online advertising flat in first quarter
Hong Kong - The strong growth associated with the online advertising sector has come to a halt with first quarter results showing no signs of an increase on the past year.
Despite some strong spending from fashion brands like H&M, Cartier and Nike and the finance sector, Nielsen’s AdRelevance Online report recorded spending of HK$172 million in the first quarter of 2009, equal to the same period in 2008.
The finance sector was the most advertised category online, spending a total of HK$33 million or 20% of the total online ad pie.
Education & learning ranked the second most advertised category at HK$24 million with computers & electrical following in third.
Citicorp was the top spender in the Q1, followed by the Hong Kong Government, Global Beauty International Limited, Sa Sa International and the Wall Street Institute.
