M1 goes in-house, names Kooi new chief
Kooi was named acting CEO in January after the departure of long-standing chief Neil Montefiore, who left to pursue other personal interests. Kooi joined M1 as CFO in 1995 and previously has held positions with the likes of Singapore Press Holdings and City Developments.
M1's recently appointed chairman Teo Soon Hoe, who replaced Lim Chee Onn in March, described Kooi as having "very strong leadership credentials and financial experience, along with significant expertise in the telecommunications industry".
"With her characteristic energy and passion, she played a key role in the growth and success of M1. She has been an outstanding CFO for the Company, and was intimately involved in several strategic decisions for the Company. With her capabilities, drive and proven track record and the strong support of her management team and staff, the Board is confident that she will be able to lead M1 to the next phase of growth," Teo said in a statement.
