Singapore - Singapore Sports Council's (SSC) ex-chief of high participation and industry development Daniel Metcalfe has left the council to take up a sports development job posting in Dubai.
An SSC spokesperson confirmed it has yet to find a replacement for Metcalfe. In his new role as VP of sports business development with the Bukhatir International Realty Development Investment Company, Metcalfe reports to Barry Jennings, president of Bukhatir International and is responsible for identifying and securing commercial partnerships with leading sporting organisations to expand a Dubai Sports City project into new markets across Asia, Middle East and Africa
"The opportunity offered in Dubai was one with a compelling vision and a chance to work internationally across one of the fastest developing regions of the world. It is also a new company, so the opportunity to be involved from the very beginning and build something from scratch was a key driver," Metcalfe said.
Metcalfe served with the SSC for 19 months and reported to Oon Jin Teik, CEO of SSC. He was previously VP at ESPN STAR Sports where he worked for seven years, and before that, was based in Kuala Lumpur working for the Organising Committee of the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
