Malaysia - DiGi will launch an advertising campaign covering TV, radio, print, online and roadshows to communicate its ability to offer nationwide Windows Live Messenger instant messaging services.

The news is the result of DiGi's recent agreement with Microsoft for the service. DiGi subscribers, which stand at 7.1 million at the end of 2008, can sign up for a free two-month trial from today till 16 May.

Dushyan Vaithiyanathan, head of consumer marketing, DiGi said the provider is confident with generating more data traffic as its customers enjoy fully integrated IM mobile experience.

"Out of 26 million mobile subscribers in Malaysia, over half a million are regular mobile internet users."

"Through innovation, our customers have been enjoying rich mobile experiences at best value and our customers can connect to their buddy list of contacts and share interesting aspects of their lives the moment it happens," Dushyan said.

Chris Chandler, head of mobile, Microsoft Online Services Group, Southeast Asia said Windows Live has enabled millions of people to keep connected no matter where they are.

"For less than the price of a Mee Goreng, Windows Live Messenger on DiGi allows users to stay in touch with friends and family in meetings, on the bus, in the library, or anywhere at all," he said.

Windows Live Messenger claims to have a user base of almost three million in Malaysia.
