Lenovo to cut supply chain jobs
China - Supply chain professionals at Lenovo have been fingered as part of the 450 staff to be axed in China.
Lenovo said it was reducing nearly 450 positions in the global functions based in China are part of the company's previously announced 2,500 job cuts. "The job reductions will affect global functions in China - including global supply chain, IT, HR, marketing and others," said a Lenovo spokesperson in response to queries from ProcurementAsia.
The reorganisation was taken to improve overall operational efficiency and maintain competitiveness, and a response to the slowing global economy, the spokesperson said.
"The action announced is part of our continuous efforts to increase efficiencies and position Lenovo for the long term," he said.
Lenovo declined to comment on the financial implications of the cut.
