More "ruumz" for marketers

Malaysia – There’s more room for marketers zero-ing in on social network portals with the recent launch of ruumzNation – a member of the Green Packet Group of Companies.

Already noted for its WiMAX arm P1’s aggressive marketing, the Green Packet unveiled “ruumz” – a site designed to fill the gaps in existing social networking sites for better assimilation of online and real world content and service delivery.

The website’s content and service delivery concept is designed to provide a better and more efficient platform for local and international online and interactive content developers to introduce and market services, games and other such content to the “ruumzsters” (members) and “ruumates” (friends) who sign up.

ruumz has already collaborated with music industry giants – Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and EMI, among other partnerships with new media content and services provider New Vision Partners and Cinema Online.

ruumz also claims that it will be the first to offer PC download music service in Southeast Asia in its “musicruum” portal.

James Chong, chief executive, ruumzNation, recognised that it would be pointless to provide services offered by Facebook, Friendster and hi5.

“We specifically set up a dedicated market research and intelligence unit just to drill down to the specifics in providing what users want today that they're not already getting.

“This is not just another portal, but a fresh, unique, exciting and worthwhile experience for users,” he said, urging for Malaysian application and content developers to take advantage of this opportunity.

“We're keen to help spur the growth of the local digital content industry, and as such are enabling immediate monetization of content and service delivery in ruumz via an embedded payment platform.

“Going one step further, we're in the midst of establishing an Application Developer Programme for Malaysian developers, which amongst others, looks into potential financing of the development of new and attractive applications and services for ruumzsters,” Chong added.
