CNN's online video through the roof
Published: Jan 15, 2009
Global - If any more proof was required on the worldwide growth of online video, then here it is. CNN.com has released its figures for 2008 which show it served nearly 1.5 billion video streams last year - an 86% increase from 2007.
CNN.com also delivered the largest daily audience in its history with 30 million unique visitors on the US Election Day. Throughout the year, CNN.com Live served an average of more than 9.6 million live streams per month, a 294% increase from 2007.
"These remarkable figures highlight the unrivalled strength of CNN's online properties," William Hsu, vice president advertising sales Asia Pacific, said.
"To reach a billion and a half video streams, that amounts to one in five people on the planet, is a fantastic milestone and attests to the legitimacy and high engagement value of the video format in the online world", he added.
Last week CNN announced its plan to further boost its online properties with a new partnership with Facebook
