Singapore - The 13th annual Webby Awards, which has expanded with the introduction of new categories this year, has made a call for entries.
The Webbys recognises excellence in websites, interactive advertising, online film /video and mobile sites, and will be held in June this year in New York.
The new categories identify the explosion in widgets and applications that allow real-world activities to be performed online. Other additions include online video's growing ranks of entertainers, performers, and personalities.
The Webby Ambassador for Singapore is Jackson Tan, creative director at Black Design. Other members of the Webby judging academy from Singapore include Sean Lam, creative director at Kinetic Singapore, and Kin Mun Lee, founder of Mrbrown.com.
"The Internet has become the breeding ground for exciting new forms of entertainment and new tools and services that are transforming everyday life. We're looking forward to honoring innovators from around the world who are taking the Internet in new and exciting directions," David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards, said.
The deadline for entries is January 30, 2009.
