FT unveils customised RSS service
Hong Kong - The Financial Times has launched a customised RSS service for corporate customers following feedback of the newspaper's decision to licence its content directly.
FT has introduced a direct licensing model that gives rights to organisations to have unlimited access to articles both on FT.com and third party channels in April last year.
Starting this month, organisations with an FT licence will have be able to create RSS feeds customised to their specific needs.
This new functionality will enable information managers to select relevant news using the FT.com search engine and to create tailored feeds immediately.
Caspar de Bono (pictured), managing director B2B for Financial Times said this is a tangible example of the benefit of having a direct relationship with corporate customers.
"Making best use of executive time remains critically important, our customers are seeking the right information not more information,"he added.
The RSS service will provide the flexibility to integrate links to the most relevant articles within the organisation's portal or intranet, allowing users to click through to read the full article on FT.com.
The direct license will allow an organisation to gain unlimited access to the site and the information manager can update the search criteria based on the changing needs of the organisation with no limit to the number of RSS links that can be created, making it easy to generate one for every area of business interest.
