Singapore - Under-fire insurance giant AIG has launched a new print campaign in Asia reassuring its customers that it will continue to meet their needs amid the global recession.

The campaign, developed by Singapore's Indigo Strategic Marketing, has four ads running in full and junior pages in The Wall Street Journal Asia, The Financial Times, The Straits Times, The Business Times and The South China Morning Post until 23 December.

The ads for AIG General Insurance group contain lines such as "No matter what you may read in the morning headlines, we will be always waiting to pick up the phone when you call" and thanks brokers and customers for their continue support. They also detail AIG's long background in Asia going back 85 years and its reach across the globe.

Indigo Strategic Marketing declined to comment on the cost of the print campaign.

AIG has been hard hit by the economic crisis and has been forced to lay off staff worldwide. The company has asked the US government for a bailout package, and in November its subsidiary AIA Singapore laid off around 20 employees.
