Mydin invests RM500 million for its expansion

Mydin Mohamed Holdings, the owner of Malaysia's largest hypermarket chain Mydin, is forking out RM500 million to open five new hypermarkets nationwide, said Bernama.The five new Mydin outlets include three hypermarkets in Kuching and one each in Malacca and Kedah, according to the group's principal architect Hiew Hong Keat. Mydin is reportedly to already have invested RM25 million to open its 25th hypermarket outlet in CityOne Megamall Kuching which will be ready by December.On top of that, it also pumped in another RM70 million on a Mydin hypermarket in Bandar Baru Samariang which will open this morning and another hypermarket in Vista Tunku, Petrajaya, soon.Check out the hypermarket's Facebook "live" broadcast on the opening of its Mydin Samariang's branch in Sarawak this morning.Hiew also told reporters in Kuching on Thursday after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Kenbest and Mydin Mohamed Holdings that with the 3 projects alone, Mydin is expected to create about 1,000 jobs.He added there is interest to expand to other towns in Sarawak such as Sibu, Bintulu and Miri - with the same kind of collaboration it has with Kenbest when venturing into future projects in Sarawak.With the opening of the new hypermarket today- Mydin would now have nearly 320 branches nationwide.A+M has reached out to Mydin for more information on its marketing plans.
