MRM Manila hires new MD, Lim joins ABS-CBN

McCann Worldgroup Philippines has roped in Manny Fernando to lead MRM Worldwide Manila as its new managing director, effective 2 May.Fernando (pictured) will be replacing Dr. Donald Lim who held the post since June 2010. He will be reporting to Raul Castro, McCann Worldgroup Philippines Chairman and CEO.A spokesperson from McCann confirmed with Marketing that Lim left the position to return to media as part of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation.Castro said his expertise "will be a vital component to the agency's continuous business solutions initiatives." While details are minimal, he said that Fernando will be tasked to lead projects into new territories in line with McCann's plans to become a strong integrated business.A veteran of 18 years, Fernando has held management positions in telecommunications, media, and technology companies. Among them are Ericsson Telecommunications, Wireless Services Asia, Isla Communications, and IPVG Corp.Prior to joining the IPG-owned agency, Fernando was President and CEO of Megamobile, a post he held concurrent with his function as Head of Digital Strategy of the Inquirer Group of Companies. He was also elected president of the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) last year.
