MEC and Maxus announce NewCo Philippines' leadership

Tim Castree, Global CEO of MEC and GroupM’s ‘NewCo’,  announced that Maria Luz “Malu” Vasallo will take on the role of Managing Director of the new combined MEC and Maxus 'NewCo' agency in the Philippines when it launches in January 2018. Vasallo has been MEC’s Managing Director since 2010 and, under her leadership, MEC has had an excellent run in the Philippines. The role becomes effective in January 2018.Castree commented: “We’re merging Maxus and MEC to form a brand new billion dollar revenue media content and technology agency, dubbed ‘NewCo’ for now. With such ambition, comes a need for brilliant talent to lead and inspire, and so today’s news is very exciting for us. Under Malu’s leadership, I am confident that we have the right team in place to truly blend the best of MEC and Maxus and make NewCo Philippines a formidable future-facing agency.”Vasallo has a long and varied career in media communications, spanning more than 20 years of strategic planning and business development. In 2010, she became the Managing Director of MEC Philippines, where she launched the specialist units MEC Interaction (Digital), MEC Access (Activation) and MEC Analytics & Insight to support a more integrated planning approach to communications. Under her leadership, the agency has established a reputation for creative media excellence as affirmed by the numerous awards and accolades they’ve received over the last seven years.
