Mars launches multi-million dollar media buying review in 7 markets

Mars Inc has launched a multi-million media buying review in seven key markets, namely Southeast Asia, Australia/New Zealand, China, Germany, India, Japan and the UK.

In a statement to Marketing, Mars Inc confirmed that it was conducting media buying agency pitches last month, with marketing teams facilitating the process in the key markets mentioned.

“Due to the significance of the markets involved, and in order to maximise project scale and efficiency, we decided to coordinate the pitch timings. We will announce the winning agencies when our review process is complete later this fall,” the spokesperson added.

The food giant recently appointed David Kiu as vice president of corporate affairs in Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa. According to his LinkedIn, he now leads internal communications and engagement, corporate communications, and reputation, issues and crisis management, brand PR and public affairs and advocacy.

Kiu was formerly from Unilever, where he oversaw employee engagement, corporate communications, external affairs and sustainable business for Asia Pacific for the organisation. Kiu was with Unilever for over three years.

He has also had experience working with the likes of P&G for two years as associate director and Eurasia Group as senior analyst for three years in London.
