Marriott's digital lead Jonathan Ye takes on regional role at Huawei

Jonathan Ye (pictured), head of social for mobile and emerging technologies at Marriott International (formerly Starwood Hotels & Resorts) has taken up a role at Huawei as head of digital and social, Asia Pacific.In a statement to Marketing confirming the move, Ye expressed his excitement to join the telecom giant and is looking forward to being part of the new global economy, with an innovative, rapidly growing business boasting focus on launching incredible new products for its consumers.The role is a regional one and will see him covering markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia and New Zealand. He will be reporting to Glen Chean, MD of marketing Asia Pacific and global PR and social team.Ye will be tasked with leading the digital communication strategies for Huawei on an international level. He will also be responsible for growing the brand’s position in Asia Pacific using digital platforms and high performance content to drive market share across the region.Prior to his new role, Ye spent three years leading the social and emerging technology charge at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific (now Marriott International). This was for its social, mobile and emerging digital platforms in performance, content and brand marketing, including new product development driving innovation for 11 unique upper-upscale and luxury lifestyle brands. His portfolio also included the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty programme (SPG) for over 330 hotels across Asia Pacific.He was responsible for developing and launching Starwood's official SPG WeChat account in Greater China, as well as driving high performance content from its Travel and Lifestyle content hub, "Momentum".Ye has over 13 years of experience in the technology and digital space at both start-ups and multinationals in Asia Pacific and North America.
