Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is organising KUL Marathon 2017 this Sunday to promote its Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Aeropolis, and at the same time commemorate its 25th anniversary.
MAHB senior general manager Zainol Md Isa told reporters at MAHB headquarters that the KUL Marathon 2017 is a “good marketing strategy” to promote the surroundings, especially KLIA-Aeropolis. He added that this is the first time such a run has been organised but he hopes to make it an annual event. For the event, MAHB also partnered the Sama-Sama Hotel KL International Airport, ERAMAN Malaysia and AERONITA as its main sponsors for the event.
“The success of the KLIA Aeropolis development very much hinges on KLIA’s strength as a connectivity hub. We wish for KLIA Aeropolis not only to become a hub the regional aviation industry but will also serve as a destination in itself to travellers,” Zainol said.
MAHB’s spokesperson also told A+M, that participation is open to members of the public, both Malaysians and non-Malaysian. The full marathon route is within the 10 x 10 km land bank that is under the management of Malaysia Airports. The marathon route has all the important landmarks such as KL International Airport, Air Traffic Control Tower, Sama-Sama Hotel, Runway 3, The Sepang International Circuit (SIC), DFTZ Park, Mitsui Outlet Park (MOP) and Long Term Car Park.
