LOOK The Wall Street Journal editor writes to newspaper thief

The Wall Street Journal editor in chief himself has written out a letter to two of the paper's fans. This stunt came after a note written by one avid reader of the paper, Richard Nagler, to his very own newspaper thief was picked up by the media. In case you have not kept up with what actually happened, local media outlets in California first reported that Nagler put up a note to his newspaper thief saying that he could borrow the paper every day rather than just steal it - as long as he promised to return it. Working with the agency The&Partnership, The WSJ marketing team roped in editor Gerard Baker to pen the two letters to the two readers. In the letter to Nagler, editor Gerard Baker offered him a free iPad with the WSJ app “to make up for [his] loss” of not getting to read the paper. In a separate letter, Baker offered the newspaper thief a subscription to the paper for $12 for the first twelve weeks.Take a look:https://twitter.com/gerardtbaker/status/580795386484432896 Following the news of getting the iPad however, Nagler told local news outlet Berkeleyside: “Those right-wing saboteurs [...]are trying to set me up with a confrontation with the IRS. They know I’ll have to report the iPad and subscription as a gift and pay tax. They’re trying to win me over to their side. I smell Rupert Murdoch behind all this.”Great marketing stunt? We sure think so.
