American department store Macy’s is the latest brand to have dumped Donald Trump from its stores after an 11 year partnership. The store has already begun phasing out all Trump branded merchandise.According to an article on CNN, the store insisted that it was one that believed in diversity and not discrimination.Trump’s statements on immigrants from Mexico being "rapists" and spreading drug use in the US sparked a heated debate. The statement from Macy’s on CNN read:"We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation," Macy's said.Trump retaliated on the matter saying that it was he who decided to “terminate” his relationship with Macy’s because of the pressure being put on them by “outside sources”.He carried on to say: “While selling Trump ties and shirts at Macy’s is a small business in terms of dollar volume, my principles are far more important and therefore more valuable. I have never been happy about the fact that the ties and shirts are made in china […]"Then, as what any angry individual (or teenager) with a pair of thumbs and a Twitter handle would do, Trump took to social media to vent his frustrations. Here are some tweets he shot out:https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/616290244753760262https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/616353325336928256https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/616353457889505280Macy’s is not the first brand to have dropped Trump from its line up.Recently NBC also decided to cut ties with Trump saying that it would no longer be airing Trump’s Miss USA and Miss Universe beauty pageants. He will also no longer be hosting the iconic show “The Apprentice.” Trump had then called NBC weak and foolish to not understand the "serious illegal immigration problem in the United States".“Clearly NBC and Macy’s supports illegal immigration, which is totally detrimental to the fabric of our once great country. Both Macy’s and NBC totally caved at the first sight of potential difficulty with special interest groups […]” the statement added. He also stated that not too long ago, he had told NBC he would no longer be hosting The Apprentice as he would be running for president of united states.Read the full statement given to Macy's and NBC here:[gallery link="file" ids="101778,101777"]
