LivingSocial and World Vision join hands to benefit relief efforts in the Philippines

LivingSocial Malaysia has collaborated with World Vision Malaysia for a relief campaign across its online platform to assist in relief efforts for the latest typhoon disaster in the Philippines.For the duration of November, LivingSocial Malaysia will engage its audience and the public by encouraging a small donation of RM 10 through its microsite that will translate into aide, food, clean water, essential household supplies, hygiene kits and emergency shelters.Dave Chang, COO of LivingSocial Malaysia said that the e-commerce site prides itself on offering amazing services and experiences at the best price.“However, we also feel that it is important to be an active member of the community. This CSR initiative with World Vision Malaysia, individuals can come together to make a significant impact for the survivors.”Typhoon Haiyan ripped across the Philippines on 8 November, affecting nearly 12.9 million people and claiming over 10,000 lives.The collaboration aims to raise USD 20 million for survivors to assist 400,000 people affected by this disaster.“While the full impact of Haiyan is yet to be known, we foresee a long and arduous road in the rebuilding ahead. We appeal to Malaysians and the international community to come alongside us and extend a much needed helping hand to the survivors,” shares Liew Tong Ngan, CEO of World Vision Malaysia.
