Legoland Malaysia invests more than RM6 million on new attraction

Legoland Malaysia Resort celebrated its second birthday on the 15 September 2015 and with the launch of the Lego Star Wars Miniland Model Display. The resort invested more than RM6 million into this new attraction, which is the biggest development at the LegolandMalaysia Resort this year.According to the company, this is the first attraction of its kind in Asia and the latest LEGO model display to open at a Legoland around the world. The attraction features seven scenes from the six Star Wars films and The Clone Wars animated series. In total, the attraction features more than 2,000 Lego models.“We are excited to celebrate our second anniversary with this new attraction. The key strategy we are using is adding a new element annually to ensure guests have exciting reasons to visit and come back for more […] Being fully indoors and air-conditioned, families can easily spend more than an hour exploring this new model display alone,” Mark Germyn, general manager Legoland Malaysia Resort said.[gallery link="file" ids="66468,66470,66469"]In an article earlier, Germyn was quoted saying that Singapore is key market for the brand in terms of attracting visitors. The company also claims to be “continuously looking to grow stronger tourism value and attract more international visitors.”“LegolandMalaysia Resort has always been committed in supporting the National Key Economic Area (NKEA) Tourism Initiative and it is a game changer under the strategic thrust of family fun,” said Ong Hong Peng, secretary general, Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, at the launch of Lego Star Wars Miniland Model Display. He added that since its opening two years ago, Legoland Malaysia Resort has contributed significantly to Johor Bahru’s position as a tourist destination.Tourism is Malaysia’s second largest foreign exchange earner and the sixth largest contributor to the nation’s income in 2013 with contribution of RM51.5million to the Gross National Income (GNI) last year. In addition to Visit Malaysia Year 2014, next year has been designated Year of Festivals 2015.
