Kantar PH: Total 1H Ad spend up 5%

Total tri-media spending in the Philippines has increased by 5% in the first six month of 2014 compared to the same period last year, according to Kantar Media.TV spending continues to lead with a 7% increase versus the first semester in 2013. Print bucked the trend by recording another decrease in total spend, slipping 8%, while radio spending remained flat.Unilever Philippines is the biggest TV spender with P25.8 million, or a 16% increase from last year’s P22.4 million. Sister company Unilever RFM Ice Cream posted the highest increase in TV spending with 291%.ACS Manufacturing topped the radio advertisers poll, spending P2.45 million this semester, or a 107% increase from last year’s P1.1 million. Columbia International Food recorded the biggest increase in radio spending year-on-year with 1.1 million, or a 675% increase from 153,000 year-on-year.While ad interest in print waned, the medium boasted having Ford Motors Philippines which recorded the highest increase in ad spending for the semester. From investing just around P700 in print ads last year, the car giant now spent P90,000, or a whopping 12,270% increase – still relatively small to other media, however.
