Indonesia-based publisher MPGMedia has extended its footprint to Hong Kong under a joint venture with WhiteWave Media Group.Known as WhiteWave MPGmedia (Hong Kong) Limited, the joint venture aims to boost the reach and visibility of MPGMedia's Surface Asia magazine.Targeting professional designers, the bimonthly regional magazine features the region's definitive resource for design, architecture, art and culture. WWMG was appointed to manage the magazine's Hong Kong circulation, marketing and advertising sales to better serve Hong Kong clients."Noticing that Hong Kong doesn't have much magazine focuses primarily on art and design (both in English and Chinese), we believe it would be a huge potential market for the magazine," said Christy Lau, general manager of WhiteWave Media Group."Though our target readers are rather niche, wee see a need for this kind of magazine from consumers in Hong Kong since the most popular types of magazine, including luxury, fashion and lifestyle, all contain elements of art and culture."The joint venture follows the launch of WOW (World of Watches) HK as part of WWMG's active pursuit of new projects and publications to boost its portfolio."WWMG team is known for being creative and dynamic and I have full confidence they will take Surface Asia to the next level with this collaboration," said Denise Tjokrosaputro, CEO of MPGMedia and publisher of Surface Asia.Julian Peh, CEO of WWMG added the partnership is highly complimentary for both of the media companies. "Indonesia is a rising market and we are proud to work closely together with a similarly dynamic partner in the country. MPGMedia publishes some very cutting-edge titles, which I admire and look forward to establishing further in Asia."Surface Asia Hong Kong edition is sold in five book retail stores including Page One, Bookazine, Bymocks, Bashcer and Eslite with a circulation of 25,000 on a bimonthly basis.
