IPG Mediabrands hires regional J&J lead

IPG Mediabrands, the media innovation unit of Interpublic Group, has appointed Rommel Mariano as the ASEAN regional business director. He will be overseeing the global media business for J&J across six key markets:  Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.He will be based in Manila where the head of J&J will also be located.Mariano (pictured) will act as the core client contact, coordinating category approaches, setting strategic direction and implementation planning for J&J’s range of FMCG brands and leveraging Mediabrands’ communications, research and analytics expertise.Mariano is tasked to drive both online and offline media opportunities for J&J and spearhead the design of meaningful communications experiences for the brand’s key categories across ASEAN region.Until recently, he was the business unit director at Publicis Manila, where he led digital projects for Nestle. Mariano’s previous roles covered strategic and creative deliverables for key accounts such as Honda, Unilever, Pepsi, P&G and Nokia at JWT Vietnam, Leo Burnett Singapore and Manila and at Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, Manila.Prior to joining Mediabrands, Mariano held a series of account leadership positions at creative agencies where he led and managed day-to-day operations and financials for the agency as well led regional account coordination.Prashant Kumar, president of IPG Mediabrands, Asia World Markets said: “Mariano's hybrid capability and expertise in digital and traditional advertising, regional experience in client partnering and creative industry background are an asset to Mediabrands .”
