IBM names new global CMO

IBM has appointed Michelle Peluso (pictured) as chief marketing officer in New York. According to several media reports, Peluso will report to Jon Iwata, IBM’s senior vice president for marketing and communications.Prior to this, Peluso was the executive advisor at Technology Crossover Ventures. During her tenure as CEO of Travelocity, the company experienced a significant turnaround in both growth of revenue and profitability and also launched an innovative net-rate hotel and packaging programme. She has also been a member of board of directors at Nike and Gilt in the past.IBM has over the years been making waves in the world of marketing, ramping up its digital marketing capabilities and ensuring marketing transformation.Regionally in Singapore, IBM collaborated with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to establish the first IBM Center for Blockchain Innovation in Singapore.IBM researchers worked with government bodies, industries and academia to develop solutions based on enterprise blockchain, cyber-security, and cognitive computing technologies. Small-and-medium-sized enterprises were also be engaged to create new applications and grow markets in finance and trade.A month prior to that, the brand set up a new design centre, which aimed to help clients reinvent their business for the digital age, is up and running and will serve as the regional hub for Asia, based out of Singapore.
