Huawei extends remit with WPP

Huawei has extended its remit with TEAMHW to manage its communications encompassing public relations and social media management, for the Southern Pacific and Malaysian divisions of its consumer business. This comes following a review process including several agencies in Malaysia.TEAMHW is WPP’s bespoke agency team that looks after Huawei’s marketing and communications around the world. Huawei’s Smartphone shipments grew more than 50% YoY for the first quarter ending March 2016.Henry Hsu (pictured), COO of Huawei consumer business group, Southern Pacific region said in the next two years, Huawei wants to become the most loved brand amongst consumers."We look forward to working with TEAMHW to improve brand affinity and appeal to a wider audience seeking mobile devices so intelligent in function and beautiful in form to deliver beyond consumer expectations. We will also look towards expanding our retail presence and offerings with world class after-sales service to grow our market share across this region,” he added.Jacey Lee is the regional business lead for the work arising out of the Southern Pacific markets, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.Lee said, “We feel extremely privileged to be working with Huawei on this scale and we are already deep into the work.”Anthony Wong, global client leader at WPP’s TEAMHW said, “As one of the world’s fastest growing mobile device brands, Huawei’s mobile devices look set to give some of the more well-known brands a run for its money. TEAMHW is excited to now be working with the Southern Pacific divisions to help grow acceptance of the Huawei brand and its amazing mobile devices across the key growth markets.”
