HKTVE free-to-air channel ViuTV to launch next April

HK Television Entertainment (HKTVE), a subsidiary of telecoms giant PCCW, has unveiled the name and logo of its new free TV service, ViuTV.Lofai Lo, general manager of HKTVE, said ViuTV will produce a series of 'factual entertainment' programmes which he hoped would be extremely entertaining and compelling.Among the programs include Travel with rivals, a self-produced programme to feature artists and celebrities traveling in pairs and expressing their innermost feelings throughout the journey.ViuTV will also air news and financial content, as well as sports, drama and cultural programmes.The newcomer claims to establish itself as an open platform for creative individuals and teams from Hong Kong and elsewhere around the world who are interested in producing programming content with ViuTV through different forms of cooperation.ViuTV’s Cantonese digital channel will air on channel 99. The station will have its test run in March 2016 and is expected to begin broadcasting in April.
