Havas' Dominique Delport takes on chief revenue role at VICE

VICE Media has appointed Dominique Delport (pictured), former global managing director of Havas Group, as chief revenue officer and president of international. News of his exit from Havas first emerged last week in an internal staff memo, but details of his appointment were not revealed at the time.Delport will report to recently appointed CEO Nancy Dubuc. In his new role, Delport will lead the generation of revenue across linear, mobile and digital, and oversee the company’s ongoing expansion worldwide. This includes new revenue streams for VICE's creative agency VIRTUE, as well as VICE’s in-house execution arm specialising in creating content, experiences and thought leadership for brands, agencies and publishers.In a statement to Marketing, VICE's spokesperson said Delport's role covers markets such as Southeast Asia and China.Prior to his new role, Delport spent 17 years with Havas as global managing director and head of content at entertainment group Vivendi. He was also a board member. During his time there, Delport supervised all brands, commercial, consumer and research for its 126 markets. He also launched innovative new platforms such as the mobile content arm Studio+.Delport said that few media brands globally have the strong DNA and global appeal. According to him, the role "fits like a glove" as it unites all his passions - journalism, content creation, digital and international business development.He described the younger generation as "demanding", adding that VICE Media "will deliver" for them. "This means rolling out our offerings and digital platforms beyond our first 40 territories and continuing to produce our legendary video content and news, but also inventing new ways to connect and engage these audiences," Delport said.VICE founder Shane Smith said Delport's "profound understanding" of content in the digital and terrestrial spheres is "unparalleled". He said that as the media landscape continues to change and shift, the knowledge possessed by Delport will prove priceless going forward and help direct VICE in its mission to become the most relevant media organisation for young people worldwide."The fact that he is coming to VICE to round out our Dream Team, shows our commitment to making VICE the media company of the future. I couldn’t be more proud to welcome Delport to the VICE family, or more excited to see where the next epoch in our evolution takes us,” Smith added.
