Groupon enters luxury category

Groupon has expanded its daily deals service to include a premium luxury offering.Danny Yeung, CEO of Groupon Hong Kong, said the premium offering will work similar to its regular deals, but each product will be hand-checked for authenticity."We've seen a tremendous response to our Premium offerings already since day one and our mission is to continue to bring the best of luxury to consumers in Hong Kong," he said.So far Bottega Veneta, Prada, Gucci and YSL have offered discounted products via its premium site.Yeung also confirmed that the move is part of specific retail category expansion the NASDAQ listed company will explore."We will look at specific retail categories as we evolve," he said.
