Google Malaysia has had its home page hacked into.  According to several reports such as The Star and the Malay Mail, visitors to the Malaysian site are greeted with the message “Google Malaysia Hacked by Tiger-Mate #Bangladeshi Hacker", redirecting users to a page made by the hackers. It is not the only site affected. MYNIC, an agency under the Ministry of Communications & Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) and regulated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM), has also released a press statement confirming the unauthorised modifications at Domain Name Server (DNS) for several major websites including Google and Yahoo Malaysia. The agency  is the sole administrator for web addresses that end with .my.In a statement to  Marketing, Google said: “We’re aware that some users are having trouble connecting to google.com.my, or are being directed to a different website.Google services for the google.com.my domain are not compromised.”Google has since reached out to the organisation responsible for managing the re-directed domain name, to have the issue resolved, it said. It has also been active on its Twitter handle @GoogleMsia to address the issue.Hasnul Fadhly Hasan, chief executive officer (CEO) of MYNIC said that the redirections are done through unauthorized modifications at DNS level. The agency is monitoring the situation to prevent further issues.MYNIC is also closely collaborating with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in resolving the incident. It also warned that some users may still see the affected pages within 24 hours due to the way DNS works.Hasnul added, "MYNIC has introduced a second layer of identity verification called Two Factor Authentication (2FA). This will ensure only the right authorised person is receiving the access code and able to change the domain name records.”
