Former GOVT KL partners launch independent agency The Clan in Singapore

Creative agency The Clan, formerly known as GOVT Kuala Lumpur, is looking to launch into Singapore to coincide with the nation's 52nd National Day. Yasser Ismail, former planning director at We Are Social Singapore, will be leading The Clan Singapore as strategic chief and managing director.According to a statement given to Marketing, The Clan Singapore will work closely with its Malaysian counterpart The Clan Malaysia on some of the agency's regional clients. Currently, the Singapore and Malaysia teams are also building a proprietary strategic thinking tool that will be digitally-enabled and accessible for clients in the coming months.Ismail was last with We Are Social for over a year, during which he led the planning and research and insight teams, focusing on building more streamlined processes between the teams. He was also responsible for building strategy in all new business initiatives for We Are Social. Among the key accounts he won included Epson, FOX+, Mercedes Benz and DBS. Ismail was also tasked with rolling out We Are Social's new global framework "Social Thinking" to all clients and partners in Asia.Prior to joining We Are Social, he was a Asia Pacific digital strategist for MasterCard at Digital Arts Network Singapore for over a year, during which he supported the creation of all social and digital strategy for regional campaigns in markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and India. Ismail also worked at Mindshare, Media Pop and Hardware Zone."Ismail is a great addition as we strengthen our strategic planning capabilities across the board. His experience is pivotal in bridging consumers to our client’s brands. He’s not just a believer of changing industry trends but is also someone ahead of pop culture, like his Game of Thrones spoilers for example," Casey Loh, creative chief of The Clan, added.One of The Clan's latest projects was a film to commemorate Malaysia Airports' 25th anniversary, which was directed by Maurice Noone from Directors Think Tank, a film and TV commercial production company. The film tells the story of the brand’s journey through the eyes of its travellers and staff members.https://youtu.be/aB2yM24iU0UThe news breaks about a month after The Clan, formerly known as GOVT Kuala Lumpur, announced its split with GOVT Singapore due to a shift in Malaysia’s business direction. The Clan took over its current stable of clients that is currently being served by GOVT KL.  One of its original three founders, Loh, also resigned as a director of GOVT Singapore.
