Footballer Neymar Jr. kicks off TCL's 2018 sports campaign as global brand ambassador

Global TV manufacturer TCL Corporation and football player Neymar Jr. have kicked off its 2018 global sports campaign, with Neymar Jr. officially assuming his role as global brand ambassador. He was picked for the role in February this year.As part of the global campaign, TCL recently launched a large-scale outdoor advertising campaign featuring Neymar Jr.. Themed "BORN A LEGEND", the campaign is available in 11 countries, including China, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia and the US. The company will also unveil an exclusive video campaign with Neymar Jr., which features him experiencing other TCL products, including washing machines, refrigerators and other home appliances.The partnership is a crucial next step in TCL's global brand strategy, and the tie-up allows it to reach a wider audience of young sports fans globally. Having him as a global brand ambassador will also raise the company's global brand visibility, reinforcing the company's youthful, international brand image, the press statement read.In a statement to A+M, TCL's spokesperson said Neymar Jr. was a "perfect fit" for the brand, as sports lie at the heart of its global brand strategy, especially in a year full of major sports events. Among the list of sports partners that TCL works with include the National Basketball Association's Minnesota Timberwolves, the Philippine Basketball Association  and the Brazilian Football Confederation."Neymar Jr. is truly a global sports icon who inspires fans to strive to reach the ultimate standards of excellence, just as TCL constantly strives for excellence in technological and product innovation," the spokesperson added.While she declined to disclose the monetary value of the partnership, she said that the football player will appear on TCL's TV and print commercials all major businesses, including TVs and household appliances.He will also participate in a series of high impact, global, online and offline marketing campaigns for TCL. The spokesperson added that TCL is also "looking at promising opportunities" to jointly carry out charity initiatives with the football player.Neymar Jr. said TCL and him share similar values, such as the constant pursuit of excellence and great results. "I am honored to be global brand ambassador for TCL. My fans watch me play football on TV, and I enjoy watching sport on my TCL TV at home with my family and friends. I know the partnership with TCL will be an entertaining journey,'' he added.Senior VP of TCL Corporation and CEO of TCL Multimedia, Kevin Wang, said its vision is to build TCL into a global leader in smart products and internet services. "We connect our consumers with enhanced technology leadership, and smart and intelligent product experiences and global partnerships that fit the brand," Wang added.He also said that TCL will continue to consolidate and expand its TV business, while exploring new opportunities through investments, mergers, acquisitions and restructuring. It plans to gain differentiation through continued high-end product strategy and innovative new products and applications to create a better user experience.
